AIADA Establishes Partnership with Moneris Solutions for Dealership ...

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The American International Automobile Dealers Association today announced a new affinity partnership with Moneris Solutions, designed to provide dealer members with exclusive pricing on merchant card processing, check guarantee and conversion, gift cards and ACH/EFT processing. Moneris Solutions is one of North America's largest payments processors with a roster of clients that include numerous Acura, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and other leading car dealerships.

"As more and more customers seek to pay by credit and debit card, and check services become a critical component to closing deals, the ability to accept any type of payment has become a fundamental element in maintaining dealership customer satisfaction," said AIADA President Cody Lusk.

5/3 re-evaluates processing

Fifth Third Bancorp is scrutinizing its processing unit as part of an annual review of its overall business operations, but bank officials say the review is aimed at enhancing growth, not at selling the unit.

Despite a one-time charge in the third quarter that resulted in the unit's first unprofitable quarter in more than five years, the unit that employs nearly 850 remains the bank's fastest-growing operation among its five divisions. In the last few years, revenues have grown an average compounded rate of 18 percent.

Charles Drucker, president of Fifth Third Processing Solutions, said Wednesday the review of operations includes a potential name change for the business unit to raise its profile.

Makes banking cheaper and more efficient

The Single Euro Payments Area becomes a reality tomorrow. HSBC will be introducing a number of propositions that will make life much easier for both personal and business customers.

SEPA aims to make cross-border electronic payments in euro in the 27 countries of the European Union, the European Economic Area (Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland) and Switzerland as quick, easy and efficient as domestic payments.

The implementation of SEPA will allow businesses and consumers to reap the benefits of a common currency and integrated payments system that have been established within the boundaries of the European Union.

Over the past year HSBC has been working hard to ensure its systems and tariffs are compliant with the requirements of the new payments area and which will result in cheaper and more efficient banking.
